October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To help raise awareness, Miss Lavinya (our MYP science teacher) gave an educational presentation to both our students and our staff. She reviewed potential causes for developing breast cancer and discussed ways in which everyone could work to prevent it in both themselves and those around them, emphasizing the importance of pre-screening for any at-risk individuals.

To further spread awareness, Miss Lavinya led all the homeroom teachers in helping their students create pink ribbons, which were worn by the entire school. Students and staff could be seen wearing their pink ribbons throughout the day. In addition, many of our students seized the opportunity to forgo the traditional MQIS uniform and instead wear pink shirts to honor those who have fought this terrible disease and to represent our hope for a cancer-free future.
