The role of play in students development

Play is our brain’s favorite way of learning. Play is very important to a child’s development it is an integral part of a child’s early year’s foundation stage and it supports their learning journey too. We believe that through play children can develop many skills like their language skills , emotions, creativity, and social skills. Play helps to nurture imagination and give the student a sense of adventure. Through this they can learn essential skills such as problem solving, working with others, sharing and expressing themselves.

The Role of Physical education in early years development

It is during early childhood that children are more willing to try new activities. Physical activities promotes healthy growth and development. It helps build a healthier body composition, stronger bones and muscles. It also improves the child’s cardiovascular fitness. Physical activities helps in the development of better motor skills and in concentration and thinking skills.
Physical activities from a young age have various benefits which reach far beyond only physical development. A child can physically, mentally, socially and emotionally develop by taking part in physical activities. Through the range of experiences that PE offers, they learn how to be effective in competitive, creative and challenging situations.  At Mar Qardakh kindergarten our aims are to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle throughout the school body, nurture sportsmanship in all aspects of competition, widen each student’s sporting experience and enjoyment and assist students in reaching their physical potential in a variety of sporting environments.

Learners in charge

“Agency is the power to take meaningful and intentional action, and acknowledges the rights and responsibilities of the individual, supporting voice, choice and ownership…”

Agency is basically when our students have ownership of their own learning and action that comes from that learning. Our job is to facilitate opportunities with their learning that enable more active participation for the kids.

Learner Agency is about shifting the ownership of learning from teachers to students, enabling students to have the understanding, ability, and opportunity to be part of the learning design and to take action to intervene in the learning process, to affect outcomes and become powerful lifelong learners.
When students’ have agency, the relationship between the teacher and students becomes a partnership.

Enjoying the sunshine together

Picnics give us an opportunity to escape from the daily routine.  Time outside benefits our physical health, and breathing in fresh air is beneficial for children.  A picnic on a sunny day also aids in vitamin D and calcium absorption, which helps to build strong bones and teeth.  It’s also a great way to teach kids about healthy eating habits and the importance of breakfast to our bodies.
